Wild Elephant Sneaks Into An Army To Sᴛᴇᴀʟ Rice Causing Storms On Social Networks

The incident occurred two years ago, but the account is resurfacing on social media sites, attracting a lot of attention. Adding to the long list of social media postings that keep people glued to them for hours, a photo of a hungry elephant going into an army mess to satisfy his hunger is now circulating.

Shared by Susanta Nanda, the elephant in the photo is seen munching on rice from a military mess using his trunk. The elephant put his face as close to the window as possible and stuck his nose in it. What he was looking for while fumbling with his nose was food.

The incident occurred in Binaguri District, West Bengal, near a forest with free-roaming animals. Sharing the picture, Nanda wrote, “Elephant named Bhaatbhoot (Rice Gʜᴏsᴛ) sᴛᴇᴀʟɪɴɢ rice from the military mess in Binaguri, West Bengal, India.” Although it occurred two years ago, the story is resurfacing on social media sites, gaining significant attention. The post has attracted over 3500 likes and comments.

Those who came across the post couldn’t ʀᴇsɪsᴛ expressing themselves. On Twitter, one user wrote: “Young one, just a beginner in the profession.”; meanwhile, another user said: “Oooh! So cute! I would lovingly let him sᴛᴇᴀʟ daily.” A third person’s comment read: “Such an innocent love for it.” “I’d wait till it was finished and move the next vessel near his trunk.” wrote another.

Elephants can weigh +13,000 lb, the earth’s largest ᴍᴀᴍᴍᴀʟ. Elephants are herbivores, so they spend their days looking for grass, roots, fruits, and other plant-based foods. They eat leaves, twigs, bark, roots, fruit, flowers… everything. They even try to eat up the soul of a tree! But, it’s not possible. If anything is green nearby, they tend to latch onto it. There is no looking right or left. To sustain such a ɢɪɢᴀɴᴛɪᴄ figure, they have to eat that much. A twig of a tree is just a single spoon of dessert on their plate!

Apart from that, they drink water from nearby ponds or rivers. They drink a lot of water to get them hydrated all the time. In some regions, they use water to control their body temperature. Elephants living in different regions of the planet eat different things. But the main diet remains the same.
