Witness The Most Heartwarming And Unforgettable Reunions You’ve Ever Seen Of 2 Circus Elephants After 22 Long Years Apart

The two former circus elephants are elated to see each other and it is one of the most heartwarming and unforgettable reunions I’ve ever seen.

Of course, there is an old phrase “an elephant never forgets”. That certainly rings true for Shirley and Jenny, two former circus elephants who had been separated for 22 years. The two pachyderms had spent almost their entire lives performing ᴛʀɪᴄᴋs in front of large crowds. Before that, they briefly trained and worked together, until being sold off to separate shows. Shirley and Jenny used to be circus elephants when Jenny was just a calf and Shirley were in her 20s. Both of these majestic creatures ended up becoming ᴄʀɪᴘᴘʟᴇᴅ due to some horrendous experiences.

The circus is no place for wild animals simply due to the ʜᴀʀsʜ, ʙʟᴇᴀᴋ conditions. While we may have fond memories of tents and popcorn, sadly, circuses are not natural, nor humane.

Miraculously, they both ended up at the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. As soon as they were reunified at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, they immediately continued where they left off it seems. They are like family to each other, and it is touching to see such an incredible bond even after they got separated for so many years!

The two elephants recognized one another as soon as their eyes met, when Shirley first meets Tara who entered the barn first, Tara caresses Shirley’s face and her ᴅᴀᴍᴀɢᴇᴅ ear, just like a human would. Which even surprised workers at the sanctuary who have spent a lot of time around elephants. And from that moment they seemingly cheered and celebrated, and have been inseparable ever since.“The interaction was dramatic, to say the least, with both elephants trying to climb in with each other and frantically touching each other through the bars.” Carol Buckley, the Executive Director of the Sanctuary said. “I have never experienced anything even close to this depth of emotion.

After the reunion at the iron barn, the two elephants were released into the wild, they roamed happily together. always walk side by side and cool off together, and mingle with the sanctuary’s elephants. We admire the affection of the two elephants.
