Sweet bear cub grabs man’s leg, prompting the most adorable ‘ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ’ ever

An adorable baby bear cub, reportedly ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ from a Russian wildfire, was caught on camera engaging in a playful “ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ” on one of his ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇʀs. The cub, which appears to be just a few months old, is as-of-yet incapable of doing any real ᴅᴀᴍᴀɢᴇ, but he looks positively precious in giving it his best shot as he wrestles around with a young man all too happy to ᴇɴɢᴀɢᴇ him in a lively ʙᴀᴛᴛʟᴇ.

Similar to all mammal reproduction, it all begins with the male and female ᴍᴀᴛɪɴɢ.  For black bears, this happens, surprisingly, in the spring or early summer.  I say surprisingly because we all know that the black bear cubs emerge in the spring from their winter den.  They ᴍᴀᴛᴇ in the spring, but the babies aren’t born until sometime during winter. Black bears ᴍᴀᴛɪɴɢ season mainly happens around May and June. The baby bears grow inside of the mom for two to three months.  After that the black bear cubs are born in the middle of winter while the female is in her winter den.  Newly born cubs weigh less than one pound, can’t see, and have no fur.  Females give birth to between one and five babies.

By the time the cubs reach 8-10 weeks old, their fur will be over an inch long, and they will have begun walking around the den. In another month, they will weigh between 3-9 pounds. The cub’s weight at this point in their development is impacted by the mother’s weight and how many other cubs are competing for the mother’s milk. Litters are normally three or less. At this point in their development, the cubs are nearly ready to leave the den. Every year well-meaning people turn healthy bear cubs into ᴏʀᴘʜᴀɴs; please don’t be one of them. If you see a very small cub, don’t remove it from the area or try to “sᴀᴠᴇ” it. We only see a cub, but mother bear is likely not too far away. Take a look for yourself at the cutest bear ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ ever, and share if you love it!
