A north Queensland couple have had a ᴛᴇʀʀɪꜰʏɪɴɢ road trip after a massive python slithered across the windscreen of their vehicle as they travelled a major highway.
Melissa Hudson and Rodney Griggs filmed their ᴛᴇʀʀᴏʀ and were completely ᴅᴜᴍʙsᴛʀᴜᴄᴋ when the three-metre long carpet snake suddenly appeared over the bonnet and started making its way to the driver’s window. “Just keep driving, you concentrate on the road, “ Ms Hudson says as the python obscures Mr Grigg’s vision.
The couple laughed and screamed as the snake started to slide across the bonnet of the car before Mr Griggs hit it with a flurry of swipes from the window wipers. “My god” Ms Hudson’s yelps before letting out a short scream as the python slides across to her side of the vehicle. The reptile then slides across the passenger side door window as the pair sᴛʀᴜɢɢʟᴇ to deal with their ordeal.
Despite windscreen wipers being turned on and the snake moving down the passenger side of the car, the python continued to ᴛᴇʀʀᴏʀɪsᴇ the couple who switched between being hysterical and laughing as they saw the lighter side of a ꜰʀɪɢʜᴛᴇɴɪɴɢ experience.
Eventually they pulled over near where a group of workers were convening and Ms Hudson yelled out, “have you got a shovel?” A worker approached the car and calmly pulled the python from the bonnet and released it onto the ground.
Ms Hudson later shared her video of the ordeal to Facebook, writing: “Glad this doesn’t happen every day”. Some social media users were not impressed by the video, and said the couple should have pulled over to let the serpent go.
“Poor snake….. it was on the OUTSIDE!!!! Not sure why the freak out and ʜᴜʀᴛɪɴɢ it with the wipers,” one commenter remarked on Facebook.
Other people said the video of the snake crawling on the car was terrifying. “Snakes on a car. Coming to a cinema near you,” one comment read, while another claimed the scene was their “worst nightmare”.
