by Many of us enjoy interacting with animals much more than we do with actual people. And why not? Many animals are sweet, caring, lovable, and trustworthy. They also have more emotions than many people give them credit for. They know how to love and nurture one another and are often seen helping each other in times of distress.
That is why a recent video is making the rounds all over the internet. The video, which shows an elephant herd running happily over to greet the newest member of the family, is going viral.
Dok Gaew is a two years old orphaned elephant who got ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇᴅ by the volunteers at the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand. When the rescuers brought the little one to the rehabilitation center, he was sᴄᴀʀᴇᴅ and confused and the staff feared of how he would be accepted by the herd. However, little they know how the other elephants would react!
But the little one, received a welcome, no one expected! When hearing the 2-year-old baby crying from across the compound, the whole herd run to greet him. Even though Dok Gaew find himself inside of an enclosure, the other elephants are pushing the trunks through the openings in a lovely try to comfort the poor little creature. They all look so glad he’s not alone, anymore!
Founder of Sᴀᴠᴇ Elephant Foundation, Sangduen “Lek” Chailert, said: “When he arrived he tried to communicate with the herd and some of them came to talk to him.
Debbie Charlesworth, a volunteer at the elephant park, said: “It was just absolutely beautiful to watch these magnificent beasts just come flying across to see this new creature they’ve got here.”
His new family consists of Dok Rak, Dok Ngern, Dok Mai, Faa Mai, Faa Sai and Sri Nuan — those are the elephants who ran to greet their new baby. As Dok Geaw continues to grow up, he’ll learn all the tricks of the elephant trade from these guys. So far, Dok Geaw has learned that he’s a fan of sand!
