Zoo Welcomed This Rᴀʀᴇ White Baby Kangaroo, It Is So Adorable

Have you ever seen a white baby kangaroo? Now here is you chance. Everyone is jumping with joy at upstate New York’s Animal Adventure Park, where an extremely Rᴀʀᴇ white kangaroo has joined the menagerie.

Cosmo the baby kangaroo had been born the size of a human thumbnail some four months ago, officials at the zoo in Harpursville told the Times Union on Saturday.  employees were blown away when they saw his Rᴀʀᴇ white color. But he had been living hidden away in his mother’s pouch until late last week, when he was old enough that zoo keepers could safely perform their first “pull,” removing him for a full medical review. The inspection revealed that he is what’s known as “ʟᴇᴜᴄɪsᴛɪᴄ,” meaning he has a partial loss of ᴘɪɢᴍᴇɴᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴ, unlike with ᴀʟʙɪɴᴏɪsᴍ, where there is no pigment at all. Cosmo’s parents, Rosie and Boomer, both belong to the red kangaroo species, the largest kind. “We are not aware of any ʟᴇᴜᴄɪsᴛɪᴄ red kangaroo in the United States, indicating just how Rᴀʀᴇ of an occurrence this is,” park owner Jordan Patch told the newspaper. “We are now working with professionals in the zoological community to determine just how unique of a blessing this little one is!” We are not aware of any ʟᴇᴜᴄɪsᴛɪᴄ red kangaroo in the United States, proving just how Rᴀʀᴇ this occurrence is!  Animal Adventure Park. The Cosmo , who is actually a red kangaroo, has a mutation that caused him to be born totally white. Contrary to what you might think, Cosmo is not albino — he is a ʟᴇᴜᴄɪsᴛɪᴄ red kangaroo.

According to the park, the difference is that Cosmo still has black color ᴘɪɢᴍᴇɴᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴ in his eyes rather than the normally anticipated red-eyed albino mutation. The little Cosmo is perfectly healthy, despite his exceptional coloring that makes him even more adorable.
