Meet the world’s biggest cat, a massive kitten so large people think it’s a dog and it’s still growing.
The oversized puss belongs to Yulia Minina who lives in the small Russian town of Stary Oskol.
Mr Minia bought Kefir, named after a milky drink, almost two years ago as a small Maine Coon kitten.
Yulia explains: “I could not even think that an ordinary baby can become so big. He not only grew up big in appearance, but he is also very smart and always behaves calmly.”
Maine Coon breed is known for being larger than the average cat, but at 26.5 pounds and three months short of 2 years old, his size is still considered to be impressive. Plus, he still has time to grow!
“It’s normal for Maine Coons to keep growing up until they are 3 years old,” Yuliya said.
It’s no wonder then, that when first meeting special cats like Kefir, most people aren’t quite sure what they’re looking at. But Yuliya doesn’t mind!
She described Kefir’s friendliness to visitors in Yulia’s home, and his enjoyment at the attention he inevitably draws from guests.
Yulia added: “When friends and acquaintances come to the house – all the attention is on him and he willingly allows himself to be stroked.”
Being such a big and fluffy cat, Kefir sheds a lot and leaves a lot of fur all around his house.
It appears he doesn’t know his own strength, either, with Yulia adding: “He has one more habit: at night he likes to climb on me and sleep. When he was a kitten, it didn’t cause me any inconvenience. But now he has become big and heavy, and, of course, it is difficult to sleep like that.”
“But in general, this is a super-smart cat. It weirdly can feel the general mood in the house. Kefir doesn’t meow, doesn’t yell, and doesn’t harm the furniture. A truly perfect cat.”
