When a cow Lᴏsᴛ her baby while in labor on Mother’s Day, a Texas man was photographed lying in the grass and offering his support for the ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ mom.
Benjamin Tipps, 29, of Borger, cuddled up next to a friend’s cow after her baby ᴅɪᴇᴅ in labor as his wife, Kayla, 29, snapped a picture.
In a field nearby his family’s home a cow had been going through a long and difficult labor which has lasted several days. Despite her hard work her calf didn’t sᴜʀᴠɪᴠᴇ and all the ᴇxʜᴀᴜsᴛᴇᴅ cow could do was lay on the ground and say goodbye to her baby.
Benjamin was so moved by her experience that he went to comfort the cow and lay with her, holding the ɢʀɪᴇᴠɪɴɢ mom while she went through every parent’s worst nightmare.
“She was ᴄʀᴜsʜᴇᴅ — just ᴅᴇᴠᴀsᴛᴀᴛᴇᴅ, and she was tired from the labor,” Kayla told InsideEdition.com. “She laid down, and Ben laid down and was kind of massaging her and comforting her.”
She explained the cow had been in labor for several days when the sac containing the calf ʙᴜʀsᴛ on Sunday. Her baby ᴅɪᴇᴅ instantly, and the cow was forced to deliver her stillborn calf.
“We didn’t think she would have any problems,” Kayla said, explaining this would have been her second calf. Her first, born last year, is healthy and growing quickly.
When she shared the photo, Kayla wrote, “What a great heart this man has. This momma cow Lᴏsᴛ her baby yesterday and Benjamin laid with her and petted her to try and comfort her. Such a sweet yet ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴇᴀᴋɪɴɢ picture.”
