Many parents do not have problems with letting their kids hang out with family pets. Even if a dog is twice the size of their child, they have no ꜰᴇᴀʀ. They are sure that they have raised their furry babies well enough to take care of their human ones.
However, some families have unusual pets. In this case, the family pet is a snake. A 13-foot Burmese python to be specific. His name is Nay-Nay. Personally, I think his name should be No-No. As in this pet is a big no-no.
Jamie Guarino is a 34-year-old father of three and lives in White Lake, Michigan. He’s had a love for reptiles, especially snakes, ever since he was a kid. Right now, he owns a 13-foot-long python named Nay-Nay. He trusts his python so much that he lets his daughters play with her as if she were the family dog.
Guarino set off a storm when he shared a video of th13 fooote python playing with then 14-month-old Alyssa. It was uploaded to the Barcroft TV channel and features Nay-Nay slithering over Alyssa while he talks to both daughter and snake in a baby voice. Mr Guarino said that he released the video to challenge people’s perceptions around snakes and to prove that human ꜰᴇᴀʀs of them are often irrational.
“I was showing the simple fact that snakes are not evil creatures,” he said in the video. “They can be a loving pet despite their bad reputation. My daughter was absolutely in no ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀ.” “There are 95% more dog ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋs then snake ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋs.”
In spite of some inflammatory comments regarding the video, Jamie continued to push for his advocacy. “When people see this clip they mostly react with ꜰᴇᴀʀ or negativity and I don’t understand why because as you can see the snake is just roaming around and has no interest in ʙɪᴛɪɴɢ her, ᴄʜᴏᴋɪɴɢ her or sᴡᴀʟʟᴏᴡɪɴɢ her,” he continued. “This is an embedded ꜰᴇᴀʀ and I think people are ʙʀᴀɪɴᴡᴀsʜᴇᴅ.”
Many people respected Jamie’s passion for reptiles. However, they were ᴀꜰʀᴀɪᴅ that the heavy and ᴄᴀʀɴɪᴠᴏʀᴏᴜs snake might ʜᴜʀᴛ the little girl. They believe that their animal instincts might come in an unexpected moment and ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ the unsuspecting child.
