by This is the incredible moment a diver has comes face to face with a huge bull shark off the Jupiter coast, Florida. The man even managed to captured a series of photos of the ɪɴᴛɪᴍɪᴅᴀᴛɪɴɢ creature, and shared them online.
John Moore, 55, was free-diving off the coast of Jupiter in Florida earlier this month when the huge female was swimming among a shiver of bull sharks. Moore said that although he has ᴇɴᴄᴏᴜɴᴛᴇʀᴇᴅ many sharks, this is the largest he has ever seen.
He captured the big bull shark on camera and has shared pictures of the beautiful encounter on Instagram and images have gone viral. Netizens amazed with the massive size of shark could not stop themselves from gushing at the pictures.
“A fish had grabbed the chunk of bait and run toward me for cover, before getting sᴄᴀʀᴇᴅ and dropping the chunk. This set me up for a sʜᴏᴛ that’s even too close for my 20mm lens.”
Moore wrote on his Instagram account: “Up close and personal inspection of the very impressive serrated teeth of a large female Bull shark. A fish had grabbed the chunk of bait and run toward me for cover, before getting sᴄᴀʀᴇᴅ and dropping the chunk. This set me up for a sʜᴏᴛ that’s even too close for my 20mm lens. Thanks for the setup to that Horse-eye Jack.”
Moore says the shark was pregnant and is overweight because of the influx of baitfish around this time.
“She was an abnormally large female,” the photographer said.
“Very likely pregnant, she certainly hadn’t skipped any meals. She was a very dominant shark, confidently coming right up to me throughout our dive.”
Even though he has a lot of experience with the sharks, this wasn’t the most comfortable experience for Moore, as the bull sharks aren’t the friendliest sharks to meet. In fact, this species, alongside great white sharks and tiger sharks are the most ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜs sharks.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, bull sharks can grow to a maximum size of about 11 feet. It is one of the more ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜs shark species, accounting for the third-highest number of ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋs on humans.
