THIS is the ɢʀᴜᴇsᴏᴍᴇ moment a snake was found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ with a ʙᴜʀsᴛ stomach, having sᴡᴀʟʟᴏᴡᴇᴅ an ENTIRE cow. The 15ft Burmese python was discovered by a farmer in the Phitsanulok province, northern Thailand on Saturday.
The man had been searching for a ᴍɪssɪɴɢ cow – which had ᴅɪsᴀᴘᴘᴇᴀʀᴇᴅ three days before. And he saw a sʜᴏᴄᴋɪɴɢ sight, a python with a bloated belly.
The pictures that have been posted online shows the snake sprawled in the tall grass while its stretched stomach was ᴛᴏʀɴ ᴀᴘᴀʀᴛ from the pressure of eating the giant meal. Local experts believe its stomach ᴛᴏʀᴇ after becoming sᴡᴏʟʟᴇɴ after sᴛʀᴜɢɢʟɪɴɢ to cope with the giant meal.
Village official Nirun Leewattanakul theorised: “The python must have been hungry and saw the cow. It then sᴛʀᴀɴɢʟᴇᴅ the cow to ᴋɪʟʟ it before sᴡᴀʟʟᴏᴡɪɴɢ its whole body. However, after the cow ᴅɪᴇᴅ inside the snake, its body became sᴡᴏʟʟᴇɴ and stretched the snake’s stomach even more. It was such a sᴄᴀʀʏ scene.”
The snake, estimated to be eight years old, eventually ᴅɪᴇᴅ because its stomach had ʀᴜᴘᴛᴜʀᴇᴅ before it could digest the ᴅᴇᴀᴅ cow. After being checked by authorities, the animals were ʙᴜʀɴᴛ and ʙᴜʀɪᴇᴅ in the vacant lot. No other animals were reported ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋᴇᴅ by the snake.
According to National Geographic, Burmese pythons have an amazing ability to digest food that are almost double their body mass. They wrap themselves around their ᴘʀᴇʏ and ᴄʀᴜsʜ it to ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ before sᴡᴀʟʟᴏᴡɪɴɢ their food whole. Their giant jaws are so big that they can, on occasion, unlock to stretch around their large prey.
Unfortunately, sometimes pythons overestimᴀᴛᴇ their appetite and stories of snakes bursting open after sᴡᴀʟʟᴏᴡɪɴɢ a meal whole are not unheard of.
A python met a similar fᴀᴛᴇ when it ᴀᴛᴇ an entire alligator whole but was unable to digest it before the ᴄᴏʀᴘsᴇ began to ᴅᴇᴄᴀʏ. The snake then had an ᴀɢᴏɴɪsɪɴɢ time when the ʀᴏᴛᴛɪɴɢ alligator body started to sᴡᴇʟʟ up as gases were released straight into its stomach. Eventually, something had to give and the sɴᴀᴋᴇ’s ʙᴏᴅʏ ʀᴜᴘᴛᴜʀᴇᴅ and it ᴅɪᴇᴅ, with witnesses finding the ʙᴏᴅɪᴇs of both animals ꜰʟᴏᴀᴛɪɴɢ in the river.
